Welcome to Spitfire News! This is an independent, reader-supported newsletter. I report on and analyze internet culture, media, and politics. And I write from a progressive, feminist perspective. If you sign up, you’ll get my weekly dispatches on everything from the Epstein Files to AI sexual harassment to Taylor Swift being called a trad wife. I tend to cover gender and violence online in an era of #MeToo backlash. But I also write about Disney Adults sometimes.
Who am I?
My name is Kat Tenbarge and I’m an award-winning independent journalist.
I write Spitfire News, and my work also appears in places like WIRED, The Verge, NBC News, and Business Insider. Some of you know me from my podcast guest appearances and/or Twitter (which I don’t post on anymore) and/or Bluesky. I’ve been reporting on internet culture since 2018, and I’ve broken major stories containing sexual violence allegations against YouTubers and other celebrities. More recently, I’ve covered how abusers weaponize AI and social media smear campaigns, and I’m often cited for my analysis of the Amber Heard and Blake Lively cases.
If you’re trying to reach me with tips, feedback, or anything else, the best way to contact me is [email protected]. You can also reply to Spitfire News emails. Check out the Contact & FAQ page for more information.
