By all indications, Anne Hathaway is having an incredible summer.
In May, she reprised her iconic role as Andy in The Devil Wears Prada 2, which is currently in fourth place for the 2026 box office. Critics and fans are currently raving over her performance as Penelope in The Odyssey, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she gets a Best Actress nomination. She also sang her heart out in the psychological drama Mother Mary, the soundtrack of which has been my obsession for the past few months (although I’d be remiss not to mention the OG queer band Mothermary, too).
It’s an amazing tour de force for someone who was considered poison by major studios less than a decade ago, after a viral online campaign termed “Hathahate” sunk her reputation over, well, literally nothing.
That’s what I want to talk about today. Starting with a confession I have to make.
